JEEP WRANGLER RECEIVES SPECIAL HONOUR IN ‘4X4 OF THE YEAR’ AWARDS

The legendary Jeep Wrangler continues to demonstrate its award-winning credentials after winning 4x4 magazine’s special Off-Road Award in the magazine’s 4x4 of the Year honours.

The legendary Jeep Wrangler continues to demonstrate its award-winning credentials after winning 4x4 magazine's special Off-Road Award in the magazine's 4x4 of the Year honours.

The recognition comes as the specialist off-road driving publication's panel of expert judges once again put the rugged US-built off-roader above some extremely capable competitors in its class.

The Off-Road Award special category concentrates solely on a vehicle's off-road performance, a Jeep Wrangler attribute the judging panel were quick to applaud.

"There has been a renaissance in the hardcore off-road market over the last few months, and if you're really serious about your off-roading, the all-new Wrangler is unquestionably the big boss of the heavy mob," says Alan Kidd, Editor, 4x4.

"With its locking diffs, crawler gears and so on, the Rubicon model is simply the most capable off-the-shelf 4x4 you can buy - especially as the new model has at last brought diesel power to the party.

"But every Wrangler comes with Jeep's unique breadth and depth of off-road know-how built in and, no small thing, it's probably the most readily modifiable vehicle on the planet. Forget fancy electronics and show-off gizmos, people who understand off-roading value traditional 4x4 engineering above everything else.

"That's why, for a completely uncompromised performance after the tarmac ends, the Wrangler leaves everything else behind."

The new Jeep Wrangler, which is just as happy on city streets as it is off the beaten path, brings together Jeep's legendary off-road prowess with superior on-road comfort, authentic style and state-of-the-art technology.

The result is the most capable Wrangler ever, courtesy of unmatched technical content which, depending on trim, includes two advanced four-wheel drive, active, on-demand full time systems - Command-Trac and Rock-Trac - plus Tru-Lock electric front- and rear-axle lockers, Trac-Lok limited slip differential and electronic front anti-roll bar disconnect.

"Jeep Wrangler is the classic 4x4 vehicle that people all over the world instantly recognise," says Andrew Tracey, Marketing Director, Jeep UK. "We know that the 2019 Wrangler takes the brand to new levels, on- and off-road, and we're delighted to see that the experts agree with us."

The Jeep Wrangler range starts at £44,865 OTR for the Sahara 2.2 MultiJet II 200hp 2-door, rising to £48,365 OTR for the Rubicon 2.2 MultiJet II 200hp 4-door.
